This is my first blog post on Medium and I am excited to share with you the topic of photo filter effects through Cascading Style Sheets. I’ve been a fan of of Design and Photography for a very long time. I’ve been editing images on Photoshop since the early 90’s and when I saw Instagram get acquired by Facebook several years ago I instantly downloaded the mobile app.

The vintage photo nostalgia took people by storm and soon there after other similar applications came into the market. Most recently I started attending a Coding Boot Camp where I am learning lots of interesting coding languages for the front and backend of applications and web related stuff from my teacher and fellow students.

I want to share with you some information on how to make photo filters with CSS. If you are familiar with coding and photography then this is perfect for you and even if you are not, CSS is a fairly easy language to master. There are plenty video tutorials on YouTube.

I want to start with Philter. Philter is a very cool JavaScript plugin that gives you the power to control CSS filters with HTML attributes. What I love about this plugin is that it makes your filters interactive so you can give them that extra kick! Here are some examples and a link to download it: http://specro.github.io/Philter/#
